The principals of Atlantic Power & Light are Mark Donovan and Ryan Toland. Mark and Ryan both hold Master Electricians licenses and have several years experience as electricians, general foremen, estimators, and project managers. The primary source of labor for AP&L projects are electrical workers from IBEW Local 103.
Mark J. Donovan - President and Chief Executive Officer
Mr. Donovan is the co-founder of Atlantic Power and Light Company and has acted as its President and CEO since its inception. Under his leadership AP&L has quickly grown to significant stature in the New England electrical engineering and contracting market, successfully completing over 1,000 commercial and industrial projects ranging in size from small construction to multimillion dollar developments. A Licensed Master Electrician and Journeyman, Mr. Donovan brings to AP&L substantial professional expertise through hands-on field experience, and is completely familiar with all aspects of complex electrical contracting projects.
Ryan E. Toland - Chief Operating Officer
Mr. Toland is the co-founder of Atlantic Power and Light Company and has served as its COO since its establishment. As the chief Project Manager for AP&L, Mr. Toland is a Licensed Master Electrician and Journeyman, bringing extensive professional expertise to the operations of the company. His duties as COO include management of a large staff of licensed electricians, job estimating, project management, maintaining client relationships, and the recruitment, training and development of company management and staff. As Project Manager Mr. Toland acts as team liaison with owners, architects, engineers, general contractors and subcontractors to ensure exceptional jobsite performance and client satisfaction. Mr. Toland is a graduate of Wentworth Institute of Technology with a Bachelors of Science Degree in Project Management.
Anthony Santana - Assistant Project Manager
Mr. Santana has been with Atlantic Power and Light Company since 2014. He works closely with the Project Management team during construction development in providing documentation, planning, and coordination of the projects. He also manages submittals, RFI’s, change orders, control logs, and assists with blueprint review, bidding, material purchases, and scheduling. Mr. Santana is a graduate of Wentworth Institute of Technology with a Bachelors of Science Degree in Construction Management. He also brings previous post-graduation work experience to assist AP&L in providing overall administrative and construction support for multiple projects.
John Spada - Controller
Mr. Spada is the Company Controller of Atlantic Power and Light Company and is responsible for its overall accounting and finance operations. His duties include establishing and maintaining internal accounting systems, establishing and maintaining banking relationships, working with external accounting firms and regulatory agencies, and ensuring compliance with government regulations.
Mr. Spada is a graduate of the University of Massachusetts Boston with a Bachelors of Arts degree in Management and Accounting, University of Phoenix with a Master of Accountancy, and has completed several graduate level tax courses at Bentley University. He is a veteran of the tax and accounting profession with over 30 years experience. Mr. Spada served as a Captain in the United States Army Reserve during Operation Desert Shield. He holds the professional designation of Enrolled Agent (EA) licensed to practice before the Internal Revenue Service, and is an Accredited Business Accountant. Mr. Spada maintains memberships in the National Society of Accountants and the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants.
Michelle Rubano - Office Manager
Ms. Rubano has served as Office Manager of Atlantic Power and Light Company since 2003. Her duties include supervision of payroll, accounts payable, accounts receivable, purchasing, human resources, and vendor management. She is also the designated liaison between AP&L management, staff, employees, and clientele. Ms. Rubano brings over 25 years of operational experience to her position, having served in similar capacities with Nigro Electric and Croce Electric.
Marie Phaneuf - Accountant
Ms. Phaneuf has recently joined Atlantic Power and Light Company as a staff accountant responsible for a variety of accounting functions including accounts payable and payroll. She graduated from Bentley University with a Bachelors of Science degree in Management and is a member of the Institute of Certified Management Accountants. Prior to working at AP&L, Ms. Phaneuf worked as an Assistant Comptroller at State Street Bank and Trust.
